BrainToast's News

Posted by BrainToast - January 25th, 2009

After hours of work, MusicToast has been created for all my audio-related needs (I assembled a droid to do most of the work (no it's actually just me programming it)). My first song was submitted. I'm just waiting for the confirmation from Karco. The reason I created a seperate name is because Karco decided to ban me from the Audio Portal for using "Precreated Loops". He PM-ed me saying that I should just make a new name if I want to post my non-precreated loop made audio, so I did. Do not request music because the droid/I will delete or send back your message.

Blada-Blah!

I've only been posting tutorial games and interactive products using Flash and Newgrounds' Flash Portal but now I'm creating an animated only flash (which I forgot to add a preloader to). It's called BRICK. The first episode is Portal. BRICK: Portal should be ready today. If it's good, I continue the series with better animations and add some sound. The main character is Ted. I'm a little delayed since Flash crashed for the 23rd time since I got it.

I do not have an additional artist/main artist for skate. I need some peeps on the team for the Production (skate: The Flash Version Production Team). I am currently searching for people via Art Forum and Flash Portal. I am currently trying to find somebody who can help me with skate The Flash Version Box Art. I will be editing the skate. Box.

While it is night, I still have a tutorial to submit called "Character Customization Tutorial - AS2". It actually affects the player in game. For a very non-picturey tutorial, looky here:
1. Create a naked player.
2. Create some head wear (E.g. helmets, masks, hats, make-up) and Body Wear (E.g. Clothing, Customes, Suits)
3. Convert every head and body wear into buttons with names that you can easily remember.
4. Convert the player into a movie clip. Double-click the player, convert the head into a movie clip called charHead. Convert the body into a movie clip called charBody.
5. Create a second frame and put the naked player on their. Add this actionscript on first frame:
stop();
charHead = 0;
charBody = 0;
On second frame, put this simple actionscript:
stop();
6. Double-click charHead (on second frame, inside player) and create as many more frames (besides the current frame with just a head) after 2 as the amount of head Wear you made (E.g. You created 4 pieces of Head Wear. You create 4 frames after frame 1 with each head wear in movie clip form replacing the head at it's main location).
7. Do the same for Body Wear.
8. Go to Scene 1, frame 2.
9. Now disassemble our player movie clip (Ctrl+B).
10. Put this actionscript on the charHead movie clip:
onClipEvent(load){
if(_root.charHead==1){
this.gotoAndStop(2);
} else if(_root.charHead==2){
this.gotoAndStop(3);
} else if(_root.charHead ==3){
this.gotoAndStop(4);
}else{
this.gotoAndStop(5);
}
if(_root.charHead>=1){
this.gotoAndStop(_root.charHead);
}
}

11. Put this actionscript differently on each headWear button:
on(release){
_root.charHead = 1;//if you have four, each one is changed from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4
_root.gotoAndStop(2);
}

12. Put this actionscript on charBody movie clip, second frame:
onClipEvent(load){
if(_root.charBody==1){
this.gotoAndStop(2);
} else if(_root.charBody==2){
this.gotoAndStop(3);
} else if(_root.charBody ==3){
this.gotoAndStop(4);
}else{
this.gotoAndStop(5);
}
if(_root.charBody>=1){
this.gotoAndStop(_root.charBody);
}
}

13. Put this actionscript on each bodyWear movie clip:
on(release){
_root.charBody = 1;//if you have four, each one is changed from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4
_root.gotoAndStop(2);
}

14. Now if you test it, should work mighty fine. Thanks for Reading! I hope you see the flash tutorial, too!

Yes, it's true. I am making a Wii flash game with the help of the actionscript X-Labs gave me today. It's called Are You Ready to Jump off a Cliff?, which is a game made for my funny story called "The 1 Kazillion Year Old McDonald Stand" (some people call it McDonalds 3G because that's the name of the McDonalds in short version. So Are You Ready to Jump off a Cliff?

My Next tutorial will be AS2 on GTA's Map Turning. This means it says that when you press A or D, your player won't turn but your map will. And if you press Left or Right, your player turns and the map turns. The reason I tell you this is because, X-Labs wants me to give him some tutorials on how to make a flash GTA game on Newgrounds which means we're both creating the flash GTA clone.

Pornomon was banned today after posting another VIOLATION COMMENT here on my post. His punishment was foreseen and has been changed from 5/1/2010 when he can comment again to 5/1/2012 because his new VIOLATION COMMENT was Ultra-Rude a.k.a. The Rudest Comment I've ever seen. Please tell pornomon this information as he will be damn pissed!
