Recap on everything announced for the game...

Posted by BrainToast - February 22nd, 2009

During my abcense...

Over the weekend, I decided to start working on a game. This game cannot be promised for it's release date yet. I know it'll release before next year. At the time, it's my main project. My sports project has failed. My actionscript has failed to work. I will get back to that project some time soon though. The current game I'm now working on is called ChestWood Hood. ChestWood Hood is a GTA clone meaning it's rating goes from T on Newgrounds to M if it were rated by the ESRB. I plan to release an exclusive trailer for ChestWood Hood tomorrow. So far, the player has nearly 80 lines of code. More weapons = more actions. Each weapon creates over 10 lines of code. Inside the player are even more actions. They make up over 105 lines of code for the player. I am working on a test game engine for all of you to play. The test has lots of lines for code. Lastly, BrainToast Games has been renamed to Second Chance.

REMINDER: Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned releases in <4 hours (2.17.09 @ 3a EST on XBLive). It costs 1600 Microsoft Points ($19.99).

REMINDER2: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Trailer this week! The newsletter has announced this week as to GTAGaming telling lies about it happening last week. Along with so, the official website will be up.

Reason for reminders: I'm talking about a GTA Clone, might as well talk about GTA's main games.

New Weapons!

Okay. I told you about the game yesterday and thought I'd tell you the 10 weapons I've already created for the game. There will be more so don't stop waiting for the game. The weapons are:

*Carbine Rifle
*Uzi
*Pistol
*Combat Pistol
*Fist
*Combat Sniper
*RPG
*Molotov
*Bat
*Knife

As you can see, all these weapons (besides Fists) can be viewed from the GTA4.NET Website. These are the ones in the test engine releasing today @ 8p ET:
*Fist
*Carbine Rifle
*Uzi

Also, the pick-ups from the game that I have created already are:
*Armour
*Health

And, since this is a GTA Clone (at least GTA), I have to create special collectibles. For this game, you must find Police Badges. After collecting them all, you are then given access to police officer clothing in your wardrobe which get you away from getting stars. Well, that's enough to reveal for today. Take a gander at this image of me collecting my 1st badge.

Hahaha!

Because my ChestWood Hood game test engine was blammed for no reason (it had 1.43/5.00 and 7/10), I am postponing CW Hood until Feb. 2010 unless I speak otherwise. Don't believe the first trailer or video when it comes out and says "Coming November 2009". For anybody who was waiting (psychicpebble and lastingfun), you will get the game emailed to you in November 2009.

PsychicPebble must PM me his email address so that I may email updates, tests, demos, and more. Lastingfun will receive the same, I have his email address.

As for everyone else, stay away from Newgrounds...To Be Continued...

More Information on CW Hood...

Hey Guys! Some good news is now being made true.

Setting = ChestWood (fictional state similar to Liberty City's new rendition)
Main Character = Gary Robinson

The story and first three missions (summary) for the game:

After finding out that this guy who Gary Robinson owes money to is alive, Gary goes to Francis International to check a plane to ChestWood but didn't expect what happens next. A bunch of robbers come to get all the money paid for trips and to catch a plane to Asia. The cops come and set up a bunch of rocket launchers. This is where the game begins. You are told to leave the airport but when you do, you notice you left your briefcase of half-a-million dollars back past the police line. You turn around and find $1000 there as the case is opened. You take it and leave. When you get outside, the next cutscene begins as the cops rush outside and bring a guy to the Liberty City Police Department (the beginning of the game's setting). The gameplay continues. You must hi-jack a helicopter and fly to CWPD. When you get there, the first thing you do when you get there is check-in to a hotel. Mission Passed! and you lose $100 for checking to the hotel. The hotel room is on floor #4. It's room 301 (first door to the left). To continue the game, you must take a nap. When you wake up, somebody calls you. He tells you to come down to the alley outside the hotel (seen in the cutscene where Gary runs to the hotel). This begins the second mission. Before leaving the hotel room, Francis (your friend) calls you to inform you of the guy you're meeting. He tells you to come down to his house where he has a pistol ready for you. You are now told to go to his house. You can either drive there, walk there, or take a cab. Your helicopter was destroyed when you landed so don't even think of trying your copter. I decided to drive there with this van I stole. After so, you get to train with your pistol (similar GTA: San Andreas). You go back to the alley and meet with the guy. When you get there, you find two large men waiting for you. They come after you like crazy. After you defeat them with your pistol, you call the guy back. NO ANSWER! You call Francis and he tells you "I told you. This guy is after you." You say "I wonder why! He's one of the robbers from the airport. I recognized his voice. I was the one who called the cops on 'em." Francis: "Hmm...Meet me at the Resotorial Enteree." Mission Passed! +Francis (picture of contact here), Pistol Acquired (it actually shows a picture of the pistol then Acquired!). You have a choice of either taking a nap or going straight to Francis. Doesn't matter but if you decided to cause havoc with your remaining bullets in your pistol then napping may be the smart thing to do. I head down to Resotorial Enteree and Francis told me to find a guy named Gorge whose on the second floor of the hotel you check into. After taking out the guy, you leave to collect your cash. Mission Passed! +$200, +20 9mm (pistol) ammo.

The reason I am telling you this is because the first demo of the game will let you play the first three missions along with the trailer for the game (you don't have to finish the demo to view the trailer, just click trailer in the main menu).

Check out this image from the opening cutscene (first frame of the game).

P.S. Since this is a video game screen, the name was 18223502.gif (and a .jpg version).

Hope you're here for more information and more screenshots on ChestWood Hood.

EDIT: Created with four seperate layers (layer called sign reading "Francis International", briefcase, ground, and table.

Sad and Good News...

Guys. I was thinking about telling you good, bad, better, and greater news. Let's start off with the good News.

GOOD NEWS:
ChestWood Hood will feature multiplayer for as many players can join.

BAD NEWS:
ChestWood Hood. I was thinking about the progress it's made. It hasn't been doing well in the actual animating. I keep on taking myself into saying "This storyboard is awesome!" but when it comes time to make the opening cutscene, I wonder if I should actually delay the game. I am unsure of this idea.

BETTER NEWS:
I will be creating an original idea for a game. Most-likely a run 'n' gun like Alien Hominid. This game will be a bit good. I haven't come up with a name nor plot. I've been thinking of an original idea for a day now and still nothing.

GREATER NEWS:
I had the idea to create a demo for CHESTWOOD HOOD but then I had an idea to release a special LEVEL PACK(s) after the release of the game.

Did I mention I'd have more news?:
ChestWood Hood is coming along with the cutscene. I'm going to be sending special packed demos for people who ask. The special packs will feature:
*A screenshot of me holding the special box for the game I am still creating.
*The first trailer
*The Date for the Second Trailer
*A HyperCam2 Recorded video of me in the production of the game.
*A demo featuring half the amount of missions in the game (50 missions in the game equaling to 25 full missions in the demo).
*Another file called difcars.exe. Click that for cool cars and motorcycles.
*And a last thing that I plan to keep secret unless the file is sent to you.

You may start pre-ordering the game (not a real game like in a box) and you could get the game a day early. The game is entirely free (unless you know where I live, then you could come and play a bunch of special content on the DISC and take a look at the back of the box. Speaking of so, I will show a screenshot of me holding the non-official game box (the one with a black background) sometime soon. I will show 3 screens (the front, the back, and the side in that order). All Private Messages for pre-ordering may come in starting today. All Private Messages for the demo special may start coming in next week. All demos (pm-ed to me before April 7th) will be sent out (via email so please provide your email address with your PM) on April 14th. Well, what are you waiting for? Start Pre-ORDERING NOW!

NOTE: IT'S FREE! NO ASKING FOR PRICES! COMPLETELY FREE! NO VIRUS IF IT NEEDS DOWNLOADING FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE!

More on the CW Hood Video Game!

Okay guys! Yesterday's news wasn't all that good but I've gotten really into the game now so it's coming along well. I'm beginning the first story in the ChestWood Hood video game series (And yes, I mentioned there being sequels to this game). ChestWood Hood will not only feature sequels (E.g. ChestWood Hood 2) but will feature DLPs (Downloadable Packs). DLPs are similar to GTA IV's DLCs except you download the packs that have the game file with it (so what I'm saying is when you download the first downloadable pack, you get the game w/out any mod files too). If you want to download the game w/out the normal game, you would download the pack that says ChestWood Hood: (Whatever I'll call it's name will be here) w/out Normal Game file. The file will still download with WinZip because you need the pack with mods to the first additional downloadable story and something extra (me holding my disc for the ChestWood Hood game saying Download Packs Now Available). Now this is a bit different. When you download the original pack, when you click each file all that happens is a code appears on the screen opening in Flash. To play the game you insert the codes into your copy of ChestWood Hood. ChestWood Hood is approximately going to be 18MB when it's done so the game will not be featured here on Newgrounds. You can play it on the site I'm working (I'll tell you when the game gets it's first trailer) on. However, the demo (approximately going to be half the size of the full game) weighing 9MB will be available here on Newgrounds to advertise you guys to visit the site. This means that to play all of ChestWood Hood's Downloadable Stories, you open up the file that comes with the demo/full game of ChestWood Hood. If you downloaded the demo, insert the code for the full-game to get the demo for the first downloadable version of ChestWood Hood Stories. I plan to give the first downloadable story a very easy to think of name of ChestWood Hood Stories but any others following it will have names with ChestWood Hood: [Downloadable Story Name Here].

Well, I think that's enough for today. ChestWood Hood is a GTA Clone releasing in Q4 2009 possibly November 2009 for PC and Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii version will be available at the website only. No demo will be featured anywhere besides the full game's WinZip file.

Thanks for Reading and watch out for trailers, demos (look out for these the most because they may get blammed), and screenshots (especially gameplay screenshots).

Trailer 1 Coming to official website and here on Newgrounds: APRIL 1ST, 2009.

Features Leaving the Station, Features Entering the Station...

As in all GTAs and GTA Clones since GTA Vice City, changing your clothes became a feature for the game. In ChestWood Hood, changing your clothes will only be happening during certain missions. The game will play out well and I have yet another screen caption straight from the opening cutscene. This caption taken from the opening cutscene is called 23443202.gif (also created a .jpg image). The .gif image looks better than the .jpg image so this is the one I'm keeping here on Newgrounds. All my images on Newgrounds were made in Flash and saved as .gif or .gif and .jpg.

Now for: Features Entering the Station.

There are supposed to be radio stations and safehouses, right? Well, I wanted to do that and I am. I also wanted to create cell-phone creator types. Some creators include G-Mobile (a parody of phones from T-Mobile E.g. You can unlock the FlipPhone which is G-Mobile's version of the T-Mobile Sidekick), PT&T (a parody of phones from AT&T), and lastly so far is Horizon (a parody of phones from Verizon E.g. You can unlock MacBerry which has a name that is made up of the Apple Mac OS and Verizon BlackBerry names). Some radio stations are Radio 10101000, Beat of the Streets, ChestWood Radio, The Grand Nokial, and more... Lastly, after the first mission in the game, I have already announced your first safehouse is a hotel room at a fancy place in ChestWood. And don't forget:
DON'T BLAM GAMES FOR NO REASON!

And the first trailer releases APRIL 1ST, 2009, and the first additional story is called ChestWood Hood Stories releasing Summer 2010 with trailers coming in starting April 2010.

ChestWood Hood Demo Features UPDATE!

For the people who played the test engine I released this past week, you may have noticed that whatever weapon you hold, it looks like a pistol. When I created the test engine, I didn't put in all the details I could. The demo with 3 missions (1/2 demo for ChestWood Hood) that I'm going to release will change that. Each weapon has it's own look just like it's supposed to be. Along with so, four more weapons have been revealed. They are from the TLaD content (GTA IV DLC 1).

*Pipe Bomb
*Pool Cue
*Assault Shotgun
*Grenade Launcher

So yeah. That's it. The game features a total of 14 weapons (4 revealed here, 10 revealed before, not including the fists).

Keep your hopes up on the game, I've finished the opening vid and have already started animating the game. Testing has begun. Reply with an email for free updates, news before it's uploaded, demos, and special screenshots on this post now. And don't forget to PRE-ORDER Now. Messages for the Demo can start coming in but you must supply your email address so that you may get the demo (the 2/2 one that's exclusive to pre-orderers) and get email updates for the game.

TRAILER 1 COMING:APRIL 1ST, 2009

One Last Weapon and New Feature...

I'm just announcing the 15th weapon (not including the fists). It's a Shotgun. You can only find these weapons being used by cops. At the beginning of the game (first part of gameplay), you can punch the cops, but they will not die because I don't feel like giving stars for the first mission. I also have to say that, if you played the test engine or any GTA game, you'll see a big difference in what happens when you get wasted. The new feature for this is, when your player dies, an ambulance automatically comes and fixes you up. However, they don't bring you in their ambulance or actually use tools on you. They quickly fix you up in less than 10 seconds. It's way better than getting wasted in GTA Games or any other clone for it. It's great! It's awesome and, you don't fail missions because of this. You still have a cell phone but that's only for calling people (so I removed GTA IV's replay mission from cell phone thing). The cell phone still supplies awesomeness though. Call people for weapons (Francis after one of the first 15 missions). Okay, I'm done. One last thing though, when you get busted, the cops take away your guns w/out bringing you to the nearest CWPD.

Yes, I used a lot of text. This was a complete recap on ChestWood Hood
