BrainToast's News

Posted by BrainToast - March 9th, 2009

I am working on the game and it's turning out fine. My friend has actually asked to join me in the creation of this game. He will be given his side of credit for his ideas such as the fact that if you buy food, you could have half and give the other half to a hobo lying on the streets.

EMAIL Mailing List!
I am anouuncing a mailing list for the game. This mailing list allows you to stay in-tact and up-to-date with all of ChestWood Hood. To get into the mailing list, visit http://cwmailinglist.blogspot.com/.

EDIT: I'm sorry, the mailing list website currently doesn't show "Sign Up Now", so just go to the site's official website.

EDIT2: For anybody at my school, 7:50a in the Cafeteria, you can see me playing the first few missions of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, next Thursday and Friday. It's a 5-minute thing, so it's 7:50a-7:55a, Mar 19 and Mar 20.

NO IMAGES!

The game has come to an agreement with awesomeness. Now, to change weapons, you have to put your mouse over the weapon selector in the top right corner, a.k.a. the HUD,and see your weapons to select one. This allows players to now use the weapon they want, when they want, at any point of the game. I am currently checking if my AS is correct. There are only 8 types of weapons. Types! There are 4 different varieties of weapons for each type equalling to 32 weapons for the game in total. I'll report back in a few minutes with the results. For now, check out my YouTube Create-The-Game Videos (click the link in the beneath my image and text).

EDIT: At the Beginning of the game, you are given access to five great ways for action. You can use your fists, a knife, a baseball bat, and a cracked beer bottle. Very soon, I will reveal a screenshot (that doesn't show any other piece of the HUD besides the Weapon) and results.

EDIT2: All weekend, starting tomorrow, @ 8p I will post videos of my three reports I've hand-written for you guys and read them to you while showing screenshots of the game. There are three reports by the names of "The ChestWood Report", "The ChestWood Report part II", and "The ChestWood Report part 3 (or Conclusion)". Friday @ 8p, Saturday @ 8p, and Sunday @ 8p, each video will release at those times. All three will be on the ChestWood Hood website for viewing until the official trailer which has been delayed with the demos because of the reports, the extra time I've put on for the game because it got deleted, and some more reasons. () in CW Report 3 can also be called: The ChestWood Report #1: The Conclusion. Each part is divided into short videos to view on YouTube. If I can, I'll release a special video of me playing the first three missions on the day of the release of the first demo of the game (which is 3 missions).

Today, during school, I wrote a 6-page report that I will read to you called "The ChestWood Report". This will be a special on YouTube featuring me showing screens of the game for both PC and Mobile Phone (s). The video will be on the homepage of the ChestWood Hood Website until the official trailer releases. Also, congratulate me! I am now a Level 7 Newgrounder.

The ChestWood Report

This news post is about the gameplay for both versions of the original CW Hood (CW Hood and CW Mobile). The game will not be sandbox (meaning, you can't have several other missions ready to go and decide to do any one of them), you do have a safehouse with a bed but no saving because of the game's small size (no longer over 10MB), you cannot steal any car because every mission has a certain car. Though, you cannot steal any car at any time, the player is given the greatest of all features that since you are only age 16 (Gary Robinson, main protagonist/player), you can press [S] to start skateboarding. While skateboarding, hit [S] to stop skateboarding, hit [B] to ollie, hit [R] to do a 360 kickflip. For Mobile: Press [5] to start skateboarding and [5] to stop skateboarding. Hit [Left Softkey] to to ollie and [Right Softkey] to do a 360 kickflip. And lastly, something about...

ChestWood Hood Stories
The game will have you playing as a character seen in ChestWood Hood billboards. The game will not have the clothes changing feature and instead of the skateboarding feature, you have a character that will drive a Black car.

ChestWood Hood 2
The game will have you with clothing. Some clothing comes from killing people during missions. Also, the HUD will be completely re-designed to look a bit like GTA3-GTASA. Be sure to check out the first site when CW Hood Stories releases. Download that when it comes because it has an exclusive trailer for the game bundled in the files. It's the only file that actually opens (the other files show codes to use to unlock CW Hood Stories into your copy of CW Hood).

The next ChestWood Hood - In Production video (#3), will show me working on final touches of the first mission along with movie clips and actions on the player. After the third in-production video, I will have the trailer ready for March 20th (yep, I brought this up since I brought the second demo back). The last Friday of this month (March 27th) will be-hold the first demo of the game showing the first 3 missions and an ending that shows screenshots from the 25 mission long demo releasing next month, and a banner at the bottom and top of the screen saying "Boxing is a Sport, Killing is a Crime. Coming November 2009 to the PC and Mobile Phones."

Since the game's file deleted itself off the earth, I have been working on the CW Hood video game. The game is still focusing on the "50 missions" thing. The game will not take hours to play. It should take about half-an-hour to play the entire game which means 15 minutes for the 25 mission demo, and who knows how long it will be for the 3 missions one releasing on Newgrounds. This means no save feature is needed. To pause the game, just hit the ESC (Escape) button that should be placed in the top-left corner of your keyboard. The entire game releases on the internet to play in December. The entire game to download releases mid-November, the demo releases April 10th, 2009 to download only. The first demo (3 missions) releases on Newgrounds March 27th, 2009.

Now for what I was focusing on at the beginning...The game already feature more animation in this than what I was working on in the first attempt at creating the game but if you this game was compared with ChestWood Mobile's opening cutscene (there'd be a big difference). I have created a menu with a selector that some of you may be familiar with. If the selector stops while it's moving, hit space bar to reset it (if you forget this, it says it in the start menu at the bottom of the screen anyway). The game is played normally in the size of 550x400 pixels. Once again, more animation was put in the works of this game. The selector (especially the menu and the logo) weren't in the last version of the game. In the last version, the game would just start at the opening cutscene which was actually really short.

Now for ChestWood Mobile News
ChestWood Mobile will not feature the TV in the house that would be in ChestWood Hood, instead, you open up your phone and select TV at anytime. You can see news. As the game progresses, I'll tell you the different channels you can watch via cell phone in ChestWood Mobile by pressing the keys on your wireless/mobile/cell phone (I wonder why they call them cell phones).

New Video on my YouTube Account
Hey Guys! I'm finally putting a video on my YouTube account. It's the first in it's series of videos. It's an "In-Production" video that shows more talking about the game than working since some people on YouTube don't know who BrainToast really is. I will be adding a direct link to my newgrounds (http://braintoast.newgrounds.com/). The video will soon be available to watch. It's 8:33 minutes long (8mins, 33secs). To download the video, check out my soon to be-download site for ChestWood Hood.

I don't mean this person has been fired or excluded from the crew, lastingfun has lost access to his computer as it will no longer turn on. I hope he takes the advice I have given to him to get his computer working again. For now, hope I can see you again my friend.

-Bye, Dude :(

I've got some really bad news guys...Somebody deleted the file for the game! I will return to working on the game. Now that this has happened, I will try my best to back-up everything I did and make it better. The weapons, the vehicles, the characters, and the plot are all still the same. The animation will be different but no matter. Better Animation means better score when it gets here on Newgrounds. Now, about the CW Hood Master Passports. I've decided to remove the thing where you collect Police Badges and replace them with unlockables which relate to The Simpsons Game's Cliches. They are called Master Passports. Some things you do in the game lead you to unlocking something new. Every time this happens, Francis's Voice will tell you the title and you may check your phone for the description (and title) of what you've unlocked throughout the game. Though this feature may make you a bit happier, I am sad and some of you probably are too that the game's file was deleted. So don't worry, this time around in the making of the game, I will make a back-up file for the game. CW Hood is rightfully owned by BrainToast Studios' Second Chance, which is the part of BrainToast Studios that makes the games. PREORDER NOW! The game will not be delayed as I have only lost 2 weeks worth of work, no delays are confirmed as it is only a flash game.
